These are materials you bring to fix clothing and gear in the field. It can be as simple as duct tape or as complex as a full repair kit for important items. Depending on what gear you have/bring this category will change. You also need to consider how much to bring, a hammer as useful as it may be, may not be practical to carry on all trips. Critical specialty gear may need maintenance and repair in the field and anything necessary to perform such repairs must be brought (i.e. a file for sharpening ice tools or a hex capable of tightening ski bindings).
Things to fix equipment should always start with a good, functional multitool. You should know all of the tools within the device and use them on a fairly regular basis. It’s unlikely that you will need more than four or five tools for any given trip and your tool should represent only what you need. Other key items of this category include duct tape, electrical tape and some kind of Cordlette (paracord or other) that is both versatile and relatively light (don’t bring the whole roll of tape, wrapping a couple feet around a hiking pole or pencil will do just as well.).
